Collection Description
I had the opportunity to partner with JOANN Fabrics to create an original fabric collection using my personal drawings and paintings. As a portrait artist I wanted to include portraits in my collection to really encapsulate my personal style as an artist and used watercolor flowers as accents.
Process
I wanted to highlight femininity and elegance in my collection, so I started drawing female sculptures and busts. I used graphite and micron pens to create depth and value within the drawings. Then I decided to use original watercolor paintings of flowers as accents through out the collection. I painted these in two hour sessions using a variety of gouache pigments focusing on warm yellows and pinks.
I was included in the review process where I met with the product development teams and executives to present my work and concepts to review and adjust to keep with in the theme of my collection. Once the art was finalized and and concepts were approved I handed off the assets to the fabric designers on the artist initiative team, and I was looped back in during the final phases of the product design for approval.
Release
JOANN FABRICS X BRITTNEY ESTHER was released on premium cotton and was available for purchase in April 2022.
